(FROM http://www.ropeofsilicon.com) Will Smith and M. Night Shyamalan have been keeping fans updated on the goings on in Costa Rica as the two have teamed up for the sci-fi feature After Earth. The story is set one thousand years after Earth has been abandoned, and a young boy and his father return to the now frightening planet after their spaceship crashes.

Smith plays the father and he’s joined by his son Jaden Smith on the feature which Columbia Pictures has currently slated for a June 7, 2013 release and thanks to Shyamalan’s WhoSay page and Will Smith’s Facebook page we are getting a first look at the set.

Overall there are seven images I’ve featured in the gallery below, five of which come from Shyamalan and I’ve accompanied those by his commentary on each photo. Additionally, we have the video you see to the right as one of the members of the crew has decided to pick up a “jumping pit viper” that was found near the set, or as Shyamalan put it on Twitter, where he “usually [goes] to think during a set up.”

Little else is known about the film though it is rumored that Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) and Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda) also star.
